David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell Split

American Idol winner David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell have split up. The couple, who started dating shortly after Cook won American Idol in May, broke up just before Christmas.

Caldwell’s rep says “Kimberly and David ended their relationship just before the holidays.

The couple remain good friends and being very private people, appreciate their privacy at this time.” A friend of Cook’s told Usmagazine.com that the reason for the split was “He has a lot of options and wants to explore them. He doesn’t want to be tied down.”

David Cook will begin a national tour next month while Kimberly Caldwell has signed on to host a talent competition for MTV.
