All Four Hobbits Back for The Hobbit?

MTV is reporting that Dominic Monaghan, possibly along with the other three hobbits will be returning for “The Lord of the Rings” prequels.
They interviewed Monaghan at the Sundance Film Festival where he is promoting “I Sell the Dead”. He said “They really want us to come back, and I think there’s a really strong chance that we might be back. It’s being produced by Peter Jackson, who obviously made the first films, and his special-effects company are making it. It’s directed by Guillermo del Toro, who I think, outside of Peter Jackson, would be the number-one person to give this any amount of the tenderness that it deserves. Obviously, Ian McKellen’s going to be back for it, and Andy Serkis is going to be back for it.”
The four hobbits, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin are not in “The Hobbit” book so there will definitely be some re-writing done to accommodate their parts. This will most likely happen in the second film where the gap between “The Hobbit” and “The Fellowship of the Ring” will hopefully be explained. No word on whether Elijah Wood, Sean Astin and Billy Boyd will be returning in their hobbit roles as well.
