Tom Hanks Heading To Space

Jacksonville – According to reports, as part of the deal that Universal signed with Mattel, Major Matt Mason will be developed into a live-action film.

Tom Hanks, will be star as Major Matt Mason and will produce the film with partner Gary Goetzman.

Hanks is no stranger to space flicks.  In 1995, the 55-year-old actor stared in the award winning Apollo 13.

Major Matt Mason was the leader of a team of astronauts who worked on the moon and lived in a space station. The character originated in 1966 but was retired in the 1970s.

Graham Yost (“Speed”) will be writing the script which no details have been revealed about.
