Police to investigate Shooting At Brady Wedding

Monday, 06 Apr 2009

Los Angeles – While renewing their wedding vows on Saturday, April 4, 2009 in Costa Rica, Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen ceremony was interrupted by gunfire. The bodyguards for the two celebrities were reported to have opened fire on two photojournalist.

According to a statement from Rolando Aviles, he and his colleague, Yuri Cortez had permission to capture photos from a neighbor’s home. The area where the photographers were allowed to snap pictures was approximately 300 feet from the ceremony.

As the story goes, the photographers were snapping away when Tom and Gisele’s bodyguards spotted them. When they were spotted, the guards confronted the two and tried to detain them. Yuri Cortez expressed that a guard who attempted to take his camera, his memory card and demanded that Yuri show him the pictures already taken, confronted him. When Yuri refused, all of the guards appeared to become angry. They began to chase them.

The two photographers ran to their SUV and drove off. Aviles stated he saw one of the bodyguards pull out a pistol. A few seconds later, the back window of the SUV was shattered. It appears the same bullet traveled through the front windshield.

An incident report has been filed. The report indicates the bullet just barely missed the photographers.
Authorities are pursuing the case to determine if or what charges will be brought against the bodyguards.

One of the photographers told PEOPLE Magazine reporters that, “I’ve been shot at before, but only when I was covering the war in Iraq or when I was in Israel. This is ridiculous. “
