Hannah Montana Rocks the Box Office
Los Angeles – Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie” was released on Friday and managed to have one of the biggest openings ever for a movie on the Easter weekend.
Thanks to swarms of young girls, “Hannah Montana” brought in $34 million this long weekend putting it behind only “Scary Movie 4″ for biggest debut ever on this holiday weekend.
Dropping from first last week into second this week with $28.8 million was “Fast & Furious” starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. “Fast & Furious” is now one of only five movies to cross the $100 million mark this year and Universal has confirmed that there will be a fifth installment with both Johnson and Walker returning.
Still with big numbers, in third was “Monsters vs. Aliens” which in its third week brought in $22.6 million.
Debuting this weekend in fourth with $11.1 million was the dark comedy “Observe and Report” starring Seth Rogen and rounding out the top five with $6.7 million was the Nicolas Cage starrer “Knowing” bringing its four week total to just over $68 million.
