Rihanna to Take the Stand Against Brown
There has been much speculation in regards to the alleged altercation between Chris Brown and Rihanna. There are some facts, including Brown’s arrest on charges of felony assault, as well as photos of Rihanna’s beaten countenance, which were leaked to the media. These facts paint an ugly picture, but in truth, much still remains unknown about what actually happened that night.
Brown’s only public comment on the incident was a Youtube video, where he thanks his fans and suggested that he was not a monster. Rihanna, on the other hand, has said nothing, a trend which looks to change today, as the singer has been subpoenaed to testify against Brown in a preliminary hearing.
The subpoena was delivered to Rihanna’s lawyers last week, and she is slated to appear in court today as a key witness in the case. The prosecution is likely relying heavily on Rihanna’s testimony, hoping to prove that they have sufficient evidence to continue the case against Brown.
On the stand, Rihanna would face questions from the prosecution and the defense. Brown’s lawyers have unsuccessfully attempted to reach a plea, and Brown has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could face four years of jail time.
