Madonna’s Stage Collapses, Kills 2
While stage crews for Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour were setting up on Thursday morning in Marseille, France, the stage collapsed killing two workers.
Madonna sent out her heartfelt sympathies as soon as she heard about the incident “I am devastated to have just received this tragic news. My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families, along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news.”
The concert scheduled for Friday night in Marseille has been cancelled.
There’s no official word on the cause of the collapse but Marseille city councillor Maurice Di Nocera said it could have been a lot worse
“Fortunately, it didn’t collapse too quickly, as there would have been quite a few victims.”
The other six that were injured were immediately rushed to hospital where one later died. Madonna continued with a concert in Udine, Italy Thursday night again paying tribute “Before I continue the show I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today. I feel so, so devastated to be in any way associated with anyone suffering. Let’s all just take a moment to say a prayer for [Them] our hearts go out to their families and loved ones… We are so blessed and lucky to be alive.”
The victim’s names haven’t been released yet.
