Erin Andrews To Sue Over Naked Tape

Tuesday, 28 Jul 2009

Erin Andrews, a well known sports reporter for EPSN, has made the decision to sue. Not only will she be suing, she is also seeking criminal charges be filed against the peeping tom who installed the camera. Complaints have been filed with local law enforcement and the police will likely start to investigate who had place the secret camera in the hotel room.

Lawyers for Miss Andrews stated they plan to go after publishers of the video in addition to the cameraman of it. The invasion of privacy issue is one that effects all of us, considering how long the camera could have been in place and other places similar cameras could be placed there is a need to hold the people responsible accountable. While this particular incident has gain national attention due to the celebrity staring in the video, how many other similar videos like this are taken without the subject’s knowledge and posted to the internet. This is just another example of the Internet Age causing the rights of the individual to be invaded and then shared for everyone to see.

The video originally posted as “Hot naked blonde” became a sensation when ESPN, in an attempt to have the video removed, outed their own reporter. The identity of the “Hot naked blonde” became known due to the letter sent by ESPN to the website that published the video. Andrews later confirmed her identity in the video “to put an end to rumor and speculation” and to help get the investigation on track so that the criminal could be caught.
