Did Ryan O’Neal Flirt With Daughter At Fawcett’s Funeral
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. In the case of actor Ryan O’Neal, the heart may have grown a little too fond. O’Neal admits that at the recent funeral for Farrah Fawcett, his partner for over 25 years, he mistook his daughter, Tatum O’Neal, described by him as a “beautiful blonde woman,” for a “strange Swedish woman” and took the opportunity to hit on her!
In an interview for an article in the September issue of Vanity Fair, O’Neal claims he didn’t recognize his daughter as she came up to him and gave him a hug. He is quoted in the article as saying to her, “‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?” Tatum pulled back and exclaimed, “Daddy! It’s me!” This happened right after Fawcett’s casket was loaded into the hearse.
The father and daughter had been estranged for several years. Tatum shrugged off the flirtation by saying, “that’s our relationship in a nutshell” and adding that her father had always been a “ladies’ man.” Ryan, despite making a move on his daughter, used decidedly harsher words to describe how he feels about her and their relationship. He is still angry about her 2004 autobiography, which he described as her throwing their “laundry in the street for money.” While Tatum says she has forgiven him for his actions, Ryan says he wishes he had never had children.
