Kate Gosselin breaks silence about ended relationship with estranged husband Jon

Kate Gosselin, of “Jon and Kate plus 8″ fame, finally broke the silence after she and her husband separated seven weeks ago on primetime television.

Gosselin, 36, and her husband were thrust into the spotlight with their young family by TLC in a documentary series that had originally began as a show following their lives and coping with their eight children — a set of twin girls and sextuplets, who are all under the age of ten.

However, as the series progressed, more attention was drawn to the fact that Kate would, at times, demean and belittle her husband on the show, gaining her the status of “nagging wife.”

NBC’s “Today Show” host Meredith Vieira tried to get Kate to speak about her soon ex-husband and his escapades while dating two women, to which she responded: “I was shocked. But, to be honest, that’s his life.”

Even with her personal suffering, Kate wants to ensure that her children are as happy as possible, even if it means playing pretend.

Kate broke into tears as she told the program’s Meredith Vieira that the ring remains on her finger because she don’t want to upset her children. The sextuplets have had to be told several times why their father is no longer living with them.

Still, Kate says she’s “determined to hang in there.”

“I am as well as can be expected,” said Kate, who said her goal is to ensure “the health and well-being of my children.”
