Will Nina Dobrev Become A Star in Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is a new series on the CW, based on the books by L.J. Smith. Elena, played by Nina Dobrev, the recently orphaned high school girl, finds a friend in a mysterious guy when she visits her parents’ graves. Her new guardian is her ever-busy aunt. Her brother is dealing with substance abuse issues. She meets Stefan, her mystery man, who has some important things in common with Elena. They are both orphans, and both love journaling, hence the title.

Their relationship is wrought with struggles, including the interference of Stefan’s morally corrupt brother, who wants nothing more than to feed on Elena. Stefan, on the other hand, is a secret vampire who chooses not to feed on humans. Developer Kevin Williams brings this show to life with a keen understanding of teenage emotion and culture. This skill allows the characters to emerge in situations that have the true feelings of teenage drama and problems. Woven into the stories are lessons, too. This show examines some difficult topics in a setting that is wildly popular among teenagers and adults. This pilot season has a lot in store for viewers.
