Rocks with the Ages Movie?
Adam Shankman Rocks with the Ages
Adam Shankman, who directed “Hairspray” and is currently a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance”, has signed on to direct an adaptation of the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages”.
The film will feature music from the 60s to the 80s including songs from Twisted Sister, Joat Jett, Pat Benatar, Poison and Bon Jovi.
The story revolves around a couple in love and the trials and tribulations that come with their rock and roll lifestyles.
Shankman is really excited about taking on this film and told Variety “I had the best time of my life making “Hairspray” and badly wanted another musical, and when I watched “Rock of Ages,” I was struck by the fact that not only had much of the audience seen it more than once, every guy in the audience knew the words to the songs. What an extraordinary opportunity to open the genre to an audience that otherwise wouldn’t go see a musical.”
“Rock of Ages” will begin production in the summer for a release in 2011.
