Simon to leave American Idol
Simon Cowell will be leaving American Idol to be apart of The X Factor, A Television series a lot like American Idol but is open to groups and solo artists with no age limit.
Who will be taking Simon’s place? No news yet to who and when someone will be taking his place or even if someone will be taking his place but for someone to fill the “gap” of the former Idol judge they would have to be loud and very strong minded and very blunt.
Fox chairman and president Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly explained that they hope that American Idol and X Factor will not be cannibalizing the same audience.
“Well, as Simon said, it’s an unknown,” Reilly said. “I can’t say with certainty that it’s not an issue. There may be some cannibalization. I don’t want to lose a rating point out of American Idol. There is some wiggle room there, with a 69-per-cent advantage over the No. 2 show. Hopefully it’s a win-win.”
“There’s a risk-reward in that,” Rice added. “There’s a possible reward, too, in that we might have a show that can replicate the power of Idol in the fall. There’s a big, big reward for us in that. The shows are different. I don’t know whether you’ve actually seen (X-Factor) in England. They are different shows. They have a different emotional quality to them.”
The emotional quality just might be what American Idol could miss without Simon Cowell with his extreme bluntness toward the people auditioning for American Idol.
