Who Will Replace Simon Cowell on American hit show American Idol ?
The question on everyone’s mind at the moment is “Who will replace Simon?” on the Fox hit AI. It’s official, according to FOX that Simply Caustic Simon Cowell is leaving one of America’s highest-rated television shows, American Idol will continue, but it will continue without Simon Cowell who is quite arguably the best of the judges that sit on the panel.
Cowell, unable to obtain blessings from FOX to allow him to bring his British talent show, The X Factor, to America, announced he was leaving the show after this season. So who will take Simon’s place on Idol? Or, more aptly put…who can they possibly find that can replace the acerbic tongue Brit?
Twitters have been tweeting and bloggers have been blogging across the world about who could possibly duplicate Cowell’s sarcasm, cockiness and biting wit. Several choices have been suggested with names and suggestions ranging from bringing back Paula Abdul to stars such as Clay Aiken, Diddy, Quincy Jones and Quentin Tarantino.
But a new name has popped up among the flurry this week – Sir Elton John. Elton John? Why not? If anyone can come close to a match for Simon, Elton John may just fit the bill. He’s witty, intelligent, savvy, and let it not be overlooked that he’s also British, which many Americans find sexy and alluring. Already having been a past guest judge on American Idol, in addition to his co-production of Spectacle with Elvis Costello the Rocket Man has experience with television and has always had a knack and desire for nurturing talented newcomers in the entertainment industry.
It’s no secret that Simon’s shoes will be difficult to fill, with many Tweeters already vowing to stop watching the show after Cowell’s departure. But perhaps Sir Elton John will be the one to walk down that yellow brick road in Simon’s shoes, and replace the irreplaceable Caustic Cowell.
