Lil Wayne Sentencing Delayed By Courthouse Fire
Looks like Lil Wayne won’t be headed to the slammer today after all.
The rapper’s sentencing in a New York City gun case was postponed today after a fire broke out in the courthouse where he was due to appear. A spokesman says flames broke out in the basement of the Manhattan courthouse, sending smoke through the building and prompting a full evacuation.
Wayne’s attorney says the rapper wasn’t in the building yet. He was due to arrive later this afternoon. The rapper had been expected to start a one-year jail term after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon. He admitted to having a loaded gun on his tour bus in July 2007.
No word on when the sentencing hearing will be rescheduled.
