Former beauty queen Carrie Prejean to wed NFL quarterback

Tuesday, 29 Jun 2010

Former Miss California, Carrie Prejean, and NFL Quarterback, Kyle Boller, are set to wed in a private ceremony this Friday, July 2, in San Diego, California. Engaged in February after dating for a year and a half, Boller, 28, and Prejean will exchange vows at The Grande Del Mar hotel, situated in the picturesque Los Peñasquitos Canyon area of San Diego.

Boller, drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2003, met Prejean at the Del Mar horse racing track last July. Boller played for the St. Louis Rams last season but recently signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Raiders.

Prejean, 23, gained notoriety for her controversial view on gay marriage, expressed while competing in the 2009 Miss USA pageant. During the interview portion of the pageant, Prejean responded to a question posed by blogger Perez Hilton by stating, “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Amid the backlash caused by Prejean’s comments, Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump fired Prejean for breach of contract and stripped Prejean of her Miss California crown. Prejean later sued pageant officials and became a short lived champion for conservative groups, but settled her lawsuit after topless photographs hit the internet and rumors of a sexually explicit videotape surfaced. former-beauty-queen-carrie-prejean-to-wed-nfl-quarterback
