Keele Maynor Pretended to Have Breast Cancer: Headed to Prison
Keele Maynor, a 39 year old Chattanooga TN woman was sentenced to 3 1/2 years to prison on Monday, for forgery and theft in which she extorted from local church members, friends, a high school booster club and services from cancer support groups.
Maynor shaved her head and told them that she had breast cancer. She told him she needed the money to be able to take a sick leave. At the time she was a city employee. Some of her coworkers even donated some of their sick leave, so she could go to treatment.
On addition to her prison sentence, Judge Don Poole added 10-year probation, so that she can pay restitution. As soon as she is released from prison she is to start making her payments. Her monthly restitution payments will be $300. Judge Pool told her that he had a problem with someone who shaves their head claims to have cancer.
Mayner cried as she apologized for hurting so many people and said she will spend the rest of her life making this wrong right.
This is not the first time that Maynor has been in trouble with the law. She had previously been convicted with a felony involving food stamps and child care.
