No Beatles on iTunes For Now

Friday, 06 Aug 2010

According toYoko Ono, the delay for Beatles songs to be sold on the Apple (AAPL) iTunes music store is going to carry on.

Apple finalized its trademark conflict with Apple Corps, The Beatles’ holding company in February 2007, clearing the way for the the world’s most commercially successful pop band to put their music on iTunes, the planet’s biggest music store. Fast forward to three years later and still no Beatles for download.

Ono, who was plugging a future public television documentary about her husband, “LENNONYC,” refused to go into detail. Band member Paul McCartney was just as unclear in 2008 when he said there were “a couple of sticking points.”

Arguably, the world of physical music media seems to be dying and one can only hope Yoko Ono can change with the times. There was some hope that the band was adopting electronic media when it permitted MTV Games to make a Rock Band game based on The Beatles.

No matter who actually is behind the delay, it appears the idea that the Beatles’ music is coming to iTunes in the near future is not a reality.no-beatles-on-itunes-for-now

  1. @ Yucko Ono: America expects you to keep your promise. We’ve had enough of the Beatles. It’s 2010 not 1968. Lock it all up and NEVER let us hear about them (or you) again. Deal?!?
