Sacha Baron Cohen As Freddie Mercury In Queen Movie
Sacha Baron Cohen as Freddie Mercury
Sacha Baron Cohen is set to star as Freddie Mercury in a movie being made about the legendary lead singer of Queen who died in 1991 after complications from AIDS.
The movie will follow Mercury from the bandâs early years to their unforgettable performance at the Live Aid Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985.
The currently untitled movie will be written by Peter Morgan (âFrost/Nixonâ, âThe Queenâ) and is set to begin filming next year.
GK Films and Tribeca Productions have already secured the rights to some of Queenâs greatest songs including âWe Are the Championsâ, and âBohemian Rhapsodyâ.
GK Films Graham King said about Mercury “Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer, so with Sacha in the starring role couple with Peter’s screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success.”
No release date has been given yet.

I love you Freddie!!!
This is going to be terrible. A sub-par writer and a comedic actor. Fantastic choices.
Don’t try and scrape the fanbase for profit, and wait for people with higher potential before you go and ruin something as fantastic as Freddie’s story.
Wow he shouldn’t play freddie.
I think they’ve got the right actor for the job. I hope they pay Freddie the respect he deserves.
If ya’ll stop comparing Sacha Baron Cohen to his other roles and consider the fact that he is an actor, then maybe you’ll realize that he is the perfect fit to play Freddie Mercury. Borat is just a movie and Sacha is an actor. I think he could pull it off. I can’t wait to see it.
