Cancer Cure Gold Discovered at UC Santa Barbara!

Scientists at the University of California, Santa Barbara have discovered a technique by which cancer can be stopped, within the neucleus of a cell, before it starts.

Gold-wrapped RNA nanoparticles are taken directly into the neucleus of cancerous cells, then selectively activated by laser.

The specially designed RNA then stops the division of cancerous cells within the neucleus of cultured mouse cells, causing the cancer to stop speading and to ultimately disappear.

Still in its infancy, the new technique has overcome it’s major technical hurdle, which was the design of the gold nanocapsule.

There are currently no plans to expand the gold technique to larget targets, such as tissue samples or entire organisms.
