The Judges Are Announced for American Idol

What has been rumoured for weeks is now official; Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will be taking over from Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi as judges of “American Idol”.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Forum in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest hosted the event and said “We are looking for the next star in music. We usually ask, who will be the next American Idol? We never asked this question, who will be the next judges on American Idol?”

He then went on to introduce judge Randy Jackson to the audience, followed by the new judges.

Tyler, who’s the lead singer for Aerosmith, said it feels “fabulous. [It] feels like the perfect feathered nest. It’s being a part of something much bigger than yourself. I want to bring some rock to this roller coaster.”

Lopez had inspirational words for the audience full of potential contestants on the show “I love you guys. I am so excited. It is about concentrating in the moment, do the best you can. Just live! Just live, it’s your moment.”

The tenth season of “American Idol” starts in January on Fox.
