‘Deadliest Catch’ Captains Jonathan Hillstrand and Andy HillstrandCall It Quits

Thursday, 30 Sep 2010

Boat captains Jonathan Hillstrand and Andy Hillstrand, featured on the hit Discovery television series ‘Deadliest Catch’, have called it quits after the network filed a lawsuit against the pair. The two were set to appear in a spin-off for the show, but were unable to carry through the work that Discovery required of them.
The pair appeared on the television series, which focused on the life aboard the two individual crab boats.

Hillstrand has reportedly been sued for $3M, forcing him to fire his crew sell his boat, The Northwestern. Hansen, who has been on the show since it debuted, decided to join in and refused to work. Hansen has stated that he was unable to work while litigation for the case was pending.

Hillstrand claims that the suit is nothing more than an attempt for the network to extort money from his family.

  1. Would be nice if this site could GET ITS FACTS STRAIGHT. Hillstrand hasn’t been forced to sell his boat or fire his crew. Hillstrand REMARKED that the suit COULD force him to sell his boat and fire his crew.

  2. I hope this can be settled. Captain Jonathan and Captain Andy shouldn’t have to pay $3M for something so crazy. I love watching ‘Deadliest Catch’ and it wouldn’t be the same without them or the other F/V on the show. If most of them call it quits because of this stupid lawsuit, I’ll quit watching the show. I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one to change the channel. (And discovery was my favorite channel). What a shame. Come on, Discovery people, get your heads out of your greedy behinds and let’s get with the show. I want ‘Deadliest Catch’ with the crews of the Time Bandit, the Northwestern, the Wizard and hopefully, the Cornelia Marie. Grow up and drop this ridiculous law suit.
