Gliese 581g, New Planet Discovered 2010, New Earth?
New Planet Found 20 Light Years Away
Earlier this week, Astronomers discovered a new planet, Gilese 581G. According to astronomers, this new planet could actual have inhabitants, as it is close to earth in its attributes, however it’s daytime on the planet all throughout the year, the sun shines continuously 24 hours a day.
Even though evidence show that the planet can sustain extraterrestrial life, astronomers still do not know if the planet has any form of intelligent life. Edward Seidel from The National Science Foundation stated, “If we do discover life outside our planet, it would perhaps be the most significant discovery of all time.
Gliese 581g is 20 light years away from the Earth, so it may be years before any more information is known about the planer or if the is other life forms out there.

It isn’t “day” for the entire planet. Only half of the planet is continuously illuminated by the star; the other half is perpetually dark, which leaves a “twilight” zone between the dark and light areas where life might have developed.
I’m sure life can manifest in all kinds of ways even in conditions that we would not consider ‘hospitable’ for life anyway. We have seen this ourselves very deep in the ocean and inside volcanoes for example.
Monkeys from Gliese showed up here after the Tea Party
took 4 years to waste civilization on the their planet.
BUT, How can a sphere have daylite all the time?
2 suns?
Billions of dollars In research, meanwhile millions of human beings die of hunger in this planet…… We aren’t that intelligent huh?
Gliese 581g is gravitationally locked, the rotation around its axis (day) slowed to where it matches that of its orbital period (year). Our moon is likewise gravitationally locked in its “year” orbiting the Earth, always presenting the same side towards us. Same thing with Gliese 581g, except that it’s a planet, not a moon orbiting a planet.
Yeah Gabe: While a few researchers on a shoestring budget worked this out, all other zillions of dollars spent on everything else was halted. Sheesh what a dolt.
“If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.” – Stephen Hawking
My guess is that the variation in insolation/temperature/etc caused by the rotation of the earth, and the tidal effects of the Moon (exposing areas of shoreline to the air at regular intervals) were extremely important in providing temporal and geographical variety of environments and thus the appearance and evolution of life as we know it. A locked planet like Gliese 581g lacks the diurnal pattern. I wonder if there is a moon to provide a lunar one. Imagine the monotony of an ocean without the tides, without the weather caused by daily heating and cooling, without the circulation provided by seasonal climate changes..
Perhaps its rotational axis is tilted enough to give some seasonal change.
This article is so dumb, welcome to yesterday’s news. I think I heard this story from Jesus himself when we were riding around on our dinosaurs. Seriously, took you this long to post this article. Everybody else has an article on this a week ago.
