Robert G. Edwards Wins Nobel Prize
Robert G. Edwards, the leading pioneer in in vitro fertilization (IVF) has won the Nobel Prize for his research and work in this field. Edwards began his research into helping infertile couples as early as the 1950’s.
Based in Cambridge University in England, Edwards was successful with the first test tube baby in 1975.
Today, the practice of IVF has helped countless thousands of couples wishing to conceive have a child of their own. His research into the fertilization process has also provided much needed research into the field that has helped in many other ways.
Edwards prize is valued at about 1.5 million dollars.
