Dancing With The Stars Recap, Who’s Going Home?

Is it me, or did the judges on Dancing With the Stars give EVERYONE an eight last night?

After slapping Michael Bolton with a pathetically low score during last week’s performance night – thanks in part to Bruno’s controversial three – Len, Carrie Ann and even Bruno were rather generous last night. Brandy and Maks, Rick and Cheryl and Jennifer and Derek all received triple eights and are tied for second place.

(Bolton, by the way, will be back on DWTS tonight, but as a performer. The crooner replaces Susan Boyle, who backed out due to a throat infection.)

In a surprising twist, Audrina and Tony have claimed the top spot of the leader board with a total of 26 points after performing a seamless waltz. The duo scored the first nine of the season, solidifying their top contention in the competition. Who would have thought that Jennifer Grey would get knocked from the top of the leader board by a MTV reality star?

In the third week of the competition, Kurt and Anna, Kyle and Lacey and The Situation and Karina find themselves in the middle of the pack this week. Also landing the in middle of the bunch was one of my favourite dances of the night, Florence and Corky, whose waltz was inspired by The Sound of Music. I’m not sure it’s because The Sound of Music is one of my favourite movies, or simply because I’m rooting for the older underdog, but I really enjoyed her performance.

Not surprising is that Bristol and Mark and Margaret and Louis are at the bottom of the barrel this week. Even though the judges once again complimented Bristol on having the guts to strut her moves on the dance floor, her foxtrot lacked energy. As for Margaret and Louis, who got the lowest score of the night with 18, it was yet another over the top, flashy disaster. I understood the whole “coming out” storyline, but between the über-colourful outfit and the uncoordinated dancing – it screamed drunken cabaret dancer.
