Kanye West’s ‘Runaway’ Has Wow Factor

Kanye West recently made his directorial film debut. West worked alongside ‘Belly’ writer Hype Williams to create ‘Runaway’, an art based film short starring West and model Selita Ebanks.

The film short was released in two versions, “clean and cut” and “uncensored”. The film, which left many viewers wondering what in the hell was going through West’s head, featurs Ebanks as a Phoenix, a mythical and fiery bird-like creature that had fallen to earth. West discovered her and fell in love with her shocking beauty. Phoenix remains on earth only to feel like an outsider before deciding to return back to her home planet. The only way that her return was possible was through self incineration.

West lists iconoclastic films such as Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ as inspiration for the work, which features numerous large fires, explosions, and intriguing dance numbers. The color rich film debuted at this years MTV Video Music Awards ceremony.
