Paranormal Activity Wins Box Office Race

“Paranormal Activity 2” scared away the competition at the box office this weekend taking the top spot.

The sequel to last year’s “Paranormal Activity” earned $41.5 million in its opening weekend.

Slipping to second this weekend was the third installment in the “Jackass” franchise.

“Jackass 3D” which is entirely shot in 3D earned $21.6 million for a ten day total of $87.1 million.

“Red”, the action comedy starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren brought in $15 million for a third place finish.

In fourth this weekend with $12 million was Clint Eastwood’s latest film titled “Hereafter” starring Matt Damon and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Finally, rounding out the top five with $7.3 million was “The Social Network”, a movie about the creation of Facebook.
