Douglas Comments On Weight Gain During Treatment

Legendary actor Michael Douglas has put on weight since beginning treatment for cancer in mid-August, and has since been putting on weight at the order of his doctors.

During an eight week treatment of chemotherapy for his stage four throat cancer, Douglas reportedly lost so much weight he tipped the scale at less than 140 pounds.

His doctors put him on a diet of rich foods, including creamy pastas, liver and chicken. Douglas, age 66, announced publicly that doctors had found a tumor the size of a walnut at the base of his tongue, and that the diagnosis was stage four cancer.

He reportedly felt symptoms of the cancer as early as last summer, but that doctors never found anything wrong until much later in the year.

Douglas blames the cancer on drinking and smoking.
