Wi Fi Bug Leads To Ipad iOS Update 4.2 Delay

Friday, 19 Nov 2010

The iPad hit a snag with the release of iOS 4.2, a new operating system for the popular tablet.

The company announced the new iOS in September. Apple has now released another Gold Master Build to developers, after a Wi Fi bug was found and fixed.

The new build may mean a couple of things, but the most important thing is that it is simply a delay of indeterminate length. Since Apple has stated that the fixes were minor, it could mean that the new iOS would be released as early as next week, but there’s been no announcement of a time frame.

Apple also stated that resubmission of apps will not be necessary due to the low risk and impact of the fixes.

This is at least some relief for the developers. Users have been eagerly anticipating the multi-tasking features as well as several other new introductions, but after being initially expected on Wednesday of last week, the delay occurred upon the realization that there was a connectivity issue with Wi Fi.
