The case against Bishop Eddie Long, the pastor recently accused of seducing former teenage congregation members simply keeps seeming to gain velocity. Make that cases.
Apparently back in 2005, Long was investigated by the government for possible fraud involving the large amount of revenues that he claimed on his taxes, along with several other big name ministry leaders. As if if that weren’t enough, then came the sex scandal, which only became more fueled when a fourth man, Spencer LeGrande came forward also making allegations that Long had coerced him into a sexual relationship while he was still a teenager. Then with the whole world seemingly cracked open and spewing heat, a previously paid for billboard sign just drew more controversy. People began to pass their own judgment of innocent or guilty.
Then former wife of two years Dabara Houston jumped on the bandwagon accusing Long of having physically abused her during their short lived marriage. Long simply cannot seem to score brownie points with the public!
Now Long is being faced with yet another lawsuit, this time from the FDIC and a local mortgage company. Long and several associates took out a nearly $2 million loan to purchase a fitness center. The owners of the fitness center claim that they have never received a penny from Long and his pals, a claim that would seem to be backed up the mortgage company. The New Birth pastor has been given 10 days to pay the debt against the fitness center before he will be facing further legal action.
A protest rally has been planned for later this month in Georgia calling for Long’s resignation. Long had many supporters at first as the sex scandal broke, but will loose ends be just enough rope…?
