Bishop Eddie Long Sex Scandal, Rally Wants Long To Step Down
Author claims knowledge of abuse by Long
Author Reuben Armstrong, writer of “Snakes in the Pulpit,” has called for Bishop Eddie Long, pastor of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Georgia, to step down from his post following accusation of sexual misconduct. Lawsuits have been filed against Long by four men who claim the minister used his power to coerce them into sexual relationships while they were teenagers.
Armstrong’s book was published in 2007, and accused Long of having homosexual relationships after hearing stories told by the men that he said are similar to those alleged in the lawsuits. Armstrong and another bishop from South Carolina will host a rally calling for Long’s resignation on Oct. 31.

People we need to stop judging other folks when we are all sinners.Jesus is soon to come and many of us going to fall short to glory.This author,Mr.Reuben Armstrong and this pastor is out to make a book deal or go on some kind of show.Tell me what is a rally going to achieve when this man church supports him.I only see jealous from many of you fools.We cannot listen to the word of God,but we can listen to what man says.I love you Bishop Eddie Long and family.Please keep silent until the Lord tells you to speak.You do not old know one explanation but the Lord.people going still talk and say nasty things about you if this scandal is true are not.I support you and my heart goes out to you and your family.
If Mr. Long truly loves and serves the Lrd, he will step down. If he loves his life nd wants to stay in the pulpit, he will dishonor God. A Pastor MUST be above reproach. The calling of the Pastors office is never to be taken lightly.
Hopefully many at the church will truly seek God and be like the Bereans.
First of all, to God be the Glory for exposing this false prophet/anti Christ. Eddie Long is not an annointed one of God, because if he was he would not have been touching those annointed young men of God. What are you rallying him to step down from? He and his followers is a cult. What we have to rally for are for the people who are really sincere about being saved to come out of that cult and find a true church home or start a true church home of their own. Let that Kingdom of Satan fall. You can always get a place to worship or you can worship from house to house. The Bible says love not the things of the world and we put too much empahasis in haveing luxurios places to worship. Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a luxurious place of worship as long as it is done in the name of the Lord and not ill gotten. I have a house church and when I invite some one they act as if I have insulted them. Some will say you talking about that house next door to that horse farm. We have to remember that the holies person that ever walked on this earth, who is Jesus, was born in a horse stable and wrapped in death clothes at his birth. He has never been ashamed of his birth place and we will celebrate his birth with stable scenes, well the same Jesus that was in that stable is the same Jesus that is in the house church, but most of all he is in your heart, the temple of your body. How does your body look, how is the service of your heart and is it like the house next door to the horse farm? The Christian church is not falling because the true Christians knows the difference between the Old and New Covenant and know that they are not under the Law which was only given to the people of Israel, but know that they are under the New Covenant of Grace which was given to all. The true Christian knows the difference between the Emeral Throne judgment for the saved and the Great White Throne judgment for the Unsaved. Do you? I understand that some people want to support the bishop, because until proven these are just alligations. Let’s not be foolish, don’t let your desire to be spiritual confuse common sense. The bishop shoud neither be automatically condemend or supported.
It’s truly amazing that those that comment on behalf of the bishop as if the know his inner thoughts because they hear him preach. However sincere the words he is still a man. For those that condem him, realize that however slim the chance it might not be true only those present actually know.
Personally weither he is guilty or not is not relivant the civl courts utilize the perponderance of evidence. At this point the scale is weighting gravely in the favor of the alledge victims. Where bishop long has neither denied or presented anything or anyone that would say otherwise. Should he step down, actually that’s up to his church members. If they choose to follow him guilty or innocent. That’s truly there option it is up to them. The real question is? Is there faith in the word of god or in the word of those that claim to be the messenger, weither it’s the bishop or the pope?8
Black mothers who profess to be Christian and stiil don’t want to judge Eddie Long, who wants God to judge him, and all the other crap that you quote from the Bible….needs to wake up! Use your female intuition, common sense, motherly wit,gut feeling and protect the victims with your prayers. Black Christian women what has happened to you? Your job is to protect the children, not hope and pray for Mr. Long. You need to stop being in denial and wake up and do your job….protect the children….and listen to them.
