Grandma Puts Young Bodybuilders to Shame
Age is just a number to grandma Ernestine Shepherd. The 74-year-old rises by three a.m. each morning to complete a 10-mile run by lunchtime. She has a six-pack that is the envy of twenty-somethings and is trained daily by a former Mr. Universe.
Along with the rigorous routine, Shepherd teaches fitness classes and does modeling. Her husband has a hard time keeping up with her, and her 14-year-old grandson is in awe. “If you are going to try to motivate people, you have to live that part,” she says.
Shepherd avoids sweets and snacks, eating only chicken breast, mixed vegetables and brown rice at each meal. A glass full of raw eggs serves as a beverage. She began her training at age 56 when her body began sagging. She claims she is not afraid of dying because “we are all going to die” and quality of life is her priority.
