Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures announced that the photography for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s “Tintin” has started.

The official title of the movie was announced and it will be “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.” Also announced were two additional cast members: Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell. Bell (“Billy Elliot and “Defiance”) has been cast as Tintin, a young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story leads him into a world of high adventure. Daniel Craig (“Casino Royale”, “Quantum of Solace” and “Defiance”) will be playing the role of the villainous Red Rackham, a pirate who attacks The Unicorn, a ship belonging to Haddock. Also previously cast in this film are Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Spielberg and Jackson are working together on the project but Spielberg will be directing this film and Jackson is set to direct the second film in the series.

The films will be based around a character created by Georges Remi aka Herge which was introduced eighty years ago. The Adventures of Tintin has sold over 200 million copies worldwide. The movie is due out in 2011.
