American Idol Recap: Who’s Going Home Tonight?
Los Angeles – Although last night’s episode of American Idol started off a little slow, it definitely picked up as the night went on. It does seem that some Idols really are in it to win it, while others are simply going through the motions.
Among the most spectacular performances of the evening was Adam Lambert, as always. This guy really seems to have his act together, right down to his potential ability to out-scream Steven Tyler. The unique spin he puts on his arrangements along with the fact that the ladies absolutely adore him are making his American Idol run one of the finest we’ve seen. He has the keen ability to take a seemingly cheesy song like “Play That Funky Music” and make it relevant.
Kris Allen also came out of his shell more than usual with his breathtaking version of “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Like Adam, his arrangements are always unique and he manages to put a great twist on all of the songs he performs.
It was not a great night for Anoop, Megan Joy or Matt Giraud. Their fundamental problem is that they are not successfully defining themselves as a specific type of artist. They are all over the place every week, and because of that, their arrangements suffer. My prediction for the bottom three tonight are these three who have consistently given lower than average performances.
If Matt is the lowest vote getter, the judges will most likely use their save. If it is either of the other two, it is unlikely that they will use their new power.
