American Idol Top 8: Adam Wins The Night Once Again

Wednesday, 08 Apr 2009

Los Angeles – American Idol April 8, 2009 featured the top 8 contestants singing songs from the years they were born. The show had many highs and lows, and ended on a very high note.

Daney Gokey sang a version of “Stand By Me” from 1980. The song was good and he impressed the judges.

Kris Allen Sang “All She Wants To Do Is Dance” second. Kris did a okay job, but overall it was unimpressive. The judges were disappointed that he didn’t put more of himself into the song. Lil Rounds also failed to impress the judges with “What’s Love Got To Do With It”. The judges said they want to see more of Lil become more of an artist, rather then just a singer.

Scott MacIntyre, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud all sang well but their performances blended together. Scott MacIntyre ditched his piano for a guitar, while singing “The Search Is Over”. Allison Sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and left the judges with split opinions. Anoop sang a very good version of “True Colors” and made up for his lackluster performance from last week. Matt sang a Jazzy version of “Part Time Lover”, and once again the judges couldn’t agree.

Adam Lambert finished off the night with a exceptional performance of “Mad World”. The show was running over so Simon was the only judge that got to comment on his performance. Simon summed up Adam by giving him a standing ovation, a rare feat for Simon.
