American Idol Recap: Who’s Going Home Tonight?

Los Angeles – Just a week after the judges used their revolutionary new power to save Matt Giraud, the contestants were back for another round last night. They knew two of them were going home.

The theme this week was disco.

There were the usual bright spots. Allison Iraheta was a genius and her style is amazing. Adam Lambert was solid as usual. Danny Gokey can really hit those high notes and, according to Paula, has the sexiest voice she’s ever heard. Kris Allen created an amazing acoustic arrangement of a disco song. All four of them are rising stars whether America votes for them or not.

Then there were the ‘forgettables.’ These are the contestants that have struggled for weeks finding their personality in the music they’ve chosen. They are the ones that probably will not win, but remain on the show. Matt Giraud had a desperate performance despite his being saved. Lil’ Rounds was completely karaoke and one can’t help but wonder when the Mary J. Blige powerhouse contestant left the competition. And then there is the charming Anoop Desai who doesn’t really amaze or impress anyone.

Two contestants will be sent packing tonight. It will probably be Lil’ and Matt.
