Vampire Slayer Re-Launch in the Works

After the success of “Twilight” another Vampire movie/series is coming back to try for the same success.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is getting a remake without the help of creator Joss Whedon.

“The Departed” producers Roy Lee and Doug Davison are working with director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband Kaz Kuzui on the remake.

Fran was the original director for the 1992 “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie starring Luke Perry and Kristy Swanson which bombed at the box office.

The film will have no involvement from Whedon or Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy in the TV series which aired from 1997-2003.

The characters of Angel, Willow, Xander and Spike will also be out of the re-launch.

Kuzui has said that she is looking to make this into a franchise with a new slayer and group of friends being introduced with the idea that each generation has its own vampire slayer.

No word on when the re-launch will happen.
