So You Think You Can Dance Breast Cancer Video
Last night an especially emotional episode of So You Think You Can Dance aired with a performance of “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush. The song was used as a backdrop for a dance that demonstrates and celebrates the struggle women face when going through the painful struggle of breast cancer. Ellen DeGeneres was a guest host for the show and everyone, panel and audience included, was moved to tears. The video has become very popular online, particularly on YouTube. The dance itself was well done and beautiful, performed by Melissa and Ade.
Thousands of people are watching the video, saying that it reminds them of their struggle with breast cancer. Survivors and family and friends of those that were lost to the disease find strength in the video and are moved by the emotion portrayed.
The chereography of the dance was done by Tyce DiOrio and Melissa and Ade performed the dance. Chances are good that DiOrio will once again be nominated for an Emmy for this performance as he was in 2009. As DiOrio said about the dance, “I just felt compelled to talk about breast cancer, and…a friend, who was faced with it.” This is one dance that will live on for many as a source of inspiration.
