Harry Potter Forced out of Top Spot
Disney’s new release “G-Force” beat out “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” this weekend at the box office.
The 3D live action/CGI comedy about extremely intelligent trained guinea pigs with the all-star voice cast of Bill Nighy, Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell, Penelope Cruz, Jon Favreau and Tracy Morgan took the top spot bringing in $32.2 million in its first weekend and exceeding all expectations.
The sixth instalment in the “Harry Potter” franchise dropped to second adding another $30 million for a 12 day total of $221.8 million.
The Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler starrer “The Ugly Truth” debuted in third this weekend earning a respectable $27 million. In fourth with $12.8 million was another new release this weekend, an R-rated horror film called “Orphan”.
Finally rounding out the top five in its fourth week was the animated movie “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” grossing $8.2 million.
