White House “Crashers”
Thursday, January 21, 2010 – The spotlight was centered on the White House party crashers in Congress Wednesday.
They are known as the most famous party crashers, Michaela and Tareq Salahi, who have been accused of sneaking into the White House for President Obama’s first state dinner that took place this past November.
The two had pleaded their Fifth Amendment rights to all questions that were asked by lawmakers in Congress.
“On advice of counsel, I respectfully invoke my right to remain silent and decline to answer your question” was the statement made by Tareq and Michaela.
Neither Salahi confessed how they made it past the Secret Service and into the state dinner on November 24th uninvited. The Homeland Security Committee was in Congress waiting to hear how this happened. Many Secret Service agents have been put on leave of absence due to this happening.
A Federal grand jury is in the process of investigating how they both managed to take photos and shake hands with the President Barack Obamba and Vice President Joe Biden and as others as well.
Mr. Salahi told the committee that even in a closed door session his wife and him would not testify, but would cooperate with lawmakers once the investigation had been done, according to The New York Times.
